AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– Authorities took a man into custody in Amherst County on Friday for charges of abduction, stealing a vehicle, and DUI.
A release from the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out to the Elon area of Route 130. There, a woman told deputies her car had been taken by a man with whom she had a professional relationship.
According to law enforcement, Albert Fields, Jr. allegedly told the victim he had a gun and made threats to harm himself. She was able to get out of the car safely and call 911 for help.
Shortly after that, deputies reportedly found Fields and took him into custody. He is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
Elon Elementary School was on a brief lock-down as a precaution, but authorities say it was lifted as soon as Fields was in custody.
