LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A multi-week road closure will begin Wednesday, August 28, in Lynchburg, officials announced today.
The City of Lynchburg announced the closure of Tenth Street between Main and Commerce Streets to through traffic Wednesday through Monday, September 16. Appalachian Power crews will install new underground equipment near the intersection of Tenth and Main Streets, making the temporary road closure necessary.
Residents in the area will notice work seven days a week during the closure, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Residents and downtown visitors seeking access to the City Center parking deck will have to enter the structure via Commerce Street instead of the usual Tenth Street entrance. City officials said traffic patterns will change to facilitate access to the parking deck during the closure, with two-way traffic permitted on the “lower portion” of Tenth Street near Commerce Street.
