Lynchburg Police searching for hit and run suspect

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver who struck a bicyclist and fled the scene.

On June 22, 2019 police were called to an accident with injuries. When they arrived at the intersection of Early St. and Cork St. they found an adult man being assisted by medics. He was later transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.

Police say they are looking a dark colored SUV, possibly a Ford Escape or similar that fled the scene northbound on Cork St. headed toward Rivermont Ave. The suspect’s vehicle may have sustained some damage to its passenger side, police say.

Anyone with information on this hit and run is asked to call the Lynchburg Police Department Traffic Safety Unit at 434-455-6047 or Crime Stoppers at 888-798-5900.
