Lynchburg Police: man in hospital after being stabbed in torso and head, suspect in custody

LYNCHBURG, Va. – One man is in the hospital for non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed in the torso and head according to Lynchburg Police.

Authorities say at 10:27 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Buchanan Street for a report of a man who had been stabbed.

The suspect fled the scene, but police were able to apprehend him a short distance away.

Antonio O’Shea Smith Sr., a 48-year-old Lynchburg resident, has been charged with malicious wounding and was transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

The victim, also a Lynchburg resident, is currently at Lynchburg General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
