Lynchburg K-9 honored with Valor Award

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A few members of the Lynchburg Police Department have a lot to celebrate – including one member of the department’s K-9 team.

Arko was honored with the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Valor Award on Tuesday.

The K-9 is getting this special recognition for taking down a suspect after a high-speed chase and shootout last October.

Arko along with other officers including Officer Nick Kirby, Officer Roy Young, Officer Miles Davis, Officer Nathan Godsie and Officer Thomas Sawyer will be credited with showing exceptional bravery and commitment on duty while under fire.
