Lynchburg firefighters to receive bailout devices

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Fire Department purchased bailout devices for firefighters designed to save their own lives.

The devices were purchased with a $200,000 FEMA grant awarded in 2018.

“This device will provide each of our members with the ability to rescue themselves from a building when exits like stairwells and doors are impassable.”

Greg Wormser, Lynchburg Fire Chief

Firefighters will receive training with the new bailout devices on September 17 and 18 at the Fire Training Center.
