Lynchburg begins 2-year Main Street project

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A two-year infrastructure upgrade project began on Main Street in Lynchburg on Monday. The project will replace 100-year-old pipes and 80-year-old power lines.

Construction will take place on Main Street between 8th and 12th Streets and on 10th Street between Main Street and Church Street.

The current project is Phase 2 part of a years-long plan to replace 50 blocks worth of pipes in downtown Lynchburg. The city already completed eight blocks of water line replacements in recent years.

Traffic routes will change periodically during the two-year period. See the current traffic restrictions below:
