LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Drivers in Lynchburg may have to find alternate routes next week as construction begins on sections of Park Avenue and Jefferson Ridge Parkway.

Construction will start Tuesday, Sept. 3, to accommodate fiber optic cable installation. The project will start at the intersection with Wise and 12th Streets and continue along Wise to the intersection with Park Avenue. From Park, construction will continue to Floyd and Seventh Streets before wrapping up at Seventh Street and Park Avenue. It will last until Wednesday, Sept. 11. Crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Temporary lane closures are expected along all sections of the construction throughout the week.

On Jefferson Ridge Parkway, crews will start work Tuesday on fiber optic cable installation. A portion of the north/west lane will close as a result. Construction will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the project is complete, though a final date has not been released.

Lynchburg officials previously announced construction next week on Rutherford Street to accommodate fiber optic cable installation.
