One dead, another injured after minivan crashes into utility pole, flips over

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR News) — State police are investigating a Henry County crash that left one person dead and another injured.

It happened at around 9:45 a.m. Monday on Old Sand Road in Henry County near Martin Road.

According to state police, a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was heading east when it ran off the road, hit a utility pole, and flipped. 

Police said that 42-year-old, Cory W. Hampton, of Ridgeway, was taken to the hospital, and his passenger, 30-year-old, Jessica N. McConnell, of Roanoke, died at the scene.

Neither of them had on a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this crash and charges are pending.
