Young woman killed in car crash after driver hits tree

A young woman is dead after a driver flipped a car and hit a tree in Grayson County. 

According to Virginia State Police, 19-year-old Kimberly Rector, of North Carolina, was a passenger riding on Delhart Road on April 5 when the driver went off the right side of the road and overturned before hitting the tree. 

23-year-old Clinton McDonald, of North Carolina, was driving the vehicle and was not injured in the crash. 

Rector was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but later died as a result of her injuries. 

Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. 

McDonald is charged with reckless driving for failure to maintain control.
