WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Wytheville Police are searching for a man wanted for using counterfeit money at a Food Lion on East Main Street.

On Monday night, a Black man with short dreadlocks and gold beads attempted to put $300 on a prepaid Visa card using $50 bills.

Police say, when confronted, he ran out of the store and left in what is believed to be a blue Subaru Hatchback. Police also say he may be staying in area hotels or with someone local.

The police department notes that the man matches the description of some of the people in the area previously wanted for counterfeiting $50 and $100 bills.
