Wonder Bear Project starts to collect bears for children in need this Christmas

Local News

“Alex found out that found out that children weren’t going to have Christmas presents and it broke his heart and so he took half of his money that he got for Christmas and on Christmas Eve we went to the Ronald McDonald House and handed out some toys,” said Missy, Alex’s mom.

Alex’s mom Missy says she never imagined two years later, the Wonder Bear Project would be a reality.

Six year old Alex and his mom with the help of his family and the community collect teddy bears to give out for Christmas to kids who need them.

“Cause I knew kids would be happy too,” said Alex.

This year Five Below is partnering with the wonder bear project to collect bears.

They have ordered two thousand bears and are hoping to sell out.

“Roanoke valley has been so supportive of five below  that we just want to give back to the community  and what better way to bring kids happiness on Christmas,” said Alyssa Wagner, Support Leader at Five Below.

On Saturday, Five Below will be having a Wonder Bear Party from 12 PM to 5 PM.

The bears will be delivered to: the Ronald McDonald House, Carilion Children’s, Rescue Mission, Matthew’s Child, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Red Cross, CHIP, and Intercept.
