Woman suffers severe injuries after being struck at truck stop

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A 56-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck pulling a trailer Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:56 p.m. at a truck stop on Major Grahams Road in Wythe County.

Virginia State Police say the woman was checking to see if a pump was available for the 2017 Ford pickup truck. Her husband was operating the vehicle.

According to police, her husband misunderstood her hand signal and pulled forward, striking her.

The woman was flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with severe, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say no charges will be filed.
