Police: Woman dead, man charged with 2nd degree murder following Lynchburg shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A Lynchburg woman is dead and an Appomattox man faces a murder charge following a Thursday night shooting in Lynchburg.

The Lynchburg Police Department says officers were called to the 2100 block of Pocahontas Street at 11:26 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, for a gunshot. When officers arrived on scene, police say they found a woman dead inside the residence who had been shot.

The department later identified the woman as 25-year-old Cansas Carolyn Crotts.

According to police, 36-year-old Kevin O’Neal Allen was identified and arrested on scene. The department says Allen is charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

This is an ongoing investigation.
