Who should pay on the first date?

(WFXR) — A new survey finds the majority of Americans prefer to split the bill on the first date.

Researchers polling 2,000 Americans found approximately 68 percent think it’s polite to at least offer to split the bill, regardless of income.

However, these rules do not necessarily follow through on subsequent dates.

Approximately 63 percent of respondents think those who make more money should pay for the follow-up date.

If you are lucky enough to get a third date, 70 percent of respondents say couples should alternate on who pays from that point on.
