Wanted sex offender arrested in Lynchburg

UPDATE (5/4/18): Troopers tell WFXR News that Leonard Blackwell was taken into custody, without incident, around midnight in Lynchburg.

Virginia State Police wants to thank the public for their tips on his whereabouts.


A convicted sex offender failed to report to court in Amherst County and now Virginia State Police needs your help to find him.

Investigators are looking for Leonard E. Blackwell, 37.

According to Virginia State Police, Blackwell failed to appear in court for failing to register as a convicted sex offender on April 26, 2018.

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office also has six outstanding arrest warrants for Blackwell.

He’s described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 5’8 and weighs approximately 150 lbs., with a light build.

Investigators say Blackwell is known to live in Madison Heights, Va.
