FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Franklin County from Friday evening that left three people injured.
According to police, the crash took place on Snow Creek Road (Route 890) — approximately one mile east of Shady Grove Road (Route 882) — at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, June 18.
VSP says a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser was traveling west on Snow Creek Road when it crossed the center line and struck a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was traveling east.
The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to run off the road and collide with a tree.
The motorcycle’s driver and passenger — a 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Bassett — were thrown from the motorcycle and were flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Even though both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were wearing helmets, police say they both sustained life-threatening injuries.
According to VSP, the driver of the Toyota, a 52-year-old woman from Martinsville, was taken by ambulance to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Toyota driver was wearing her seatbelt.
Officials say charges are pending in connection with Friday’s crash, which is still under investigation.
