Volvo officials have hired around 300 workers at the New River Valley assembly plant to keep up with a growing demand for trucks.

Spokesman John Mies told WFXR News that employment at the facility in Dublin now tops 3,500 workers.

Retail sales in the United States and Canada are up around 60% in the past year.

Mies said there is a strong demand for VNR and VNL truck models that are built in the New River Valley.
