The visitors center above the Smith Mountain Dam is closed to the public until August 1.
Appalachian Power has temporarily closed the Smith Mountain Project Joseph H. Vipperman Visitors Center in order to complete maintenance work at the site.
The closure includes the scenic walkway overlooking the dam.
The public picnic area just below the dam on Leesville Lake will remain open.
