Virginia Tech’s hyperloop team heads to California for a second phase of competition.
Later this month, 29 student teams from around the world will test their human-scale transportation pods on the mile-long hyperloop test track and facility located at SpaceX headquarters.
Tech students say they’re ready to put their design up to the challenge.
“This is not something that is going to be easy, there is going to be a lot to do out there but I have a lot of confidence in our team because we have the best engineers here at the university and I think we can go out there and be very successful if we put in the time, put in the effort and really be thorough during our testing,” Jay Pennington, student member of the mechanical engineering team, said.
Last year, Virginia Tech placed fourth in the global competition.
