Virginia State Police helped rescue a missing man on Friday.
70-year-old Harvey Sutherland was found after being reported as missing on Thursday, February 23.
He was found in a deep hollow, surrounded by rock cliffs. Virginia State Police airlifted him to a nearby area where he was assessed by paramedics. He was later taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

DICKENSON, Va. – Missing for the better part of a day, 70-year-old Harvey Sutherland was found safe last Friday morning after an intensive search by the Virginia State Police.
On the night of Feb. 23, 2017, Virginia State Police received a call that Mr. Sutherland, who is a resident of Russell County, had been missing for more than eight hours after traveling to neighboring Dickenson County. Troopers, including tactical team members, canine personnel and the Aviation Unit, responded to that area to conduct a search, which continued into the following day.
The next morning, Mr. Sutherland was located in a deep hollow surrounded by rock cliffs. The Virginia State Police Med-Flight helicopter airlifted him from the area to a nearby location where he was assessed by paramedics. He was later transported to Dickenson Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
