Did you know Virginia is the second most difficult state in the nation to cast your vote in?

A new study from Northern Illinois University looked how states influence who votes by making it harder or easier to vote.

The study looked at 33 different variables when it comes to registering to vote, including deadlines.

They also looked at voting laws that affect your ability to cast a ballot.

Researchers looked at 20 years worth of data, dating back to the 1996 election.

Some of the reasons for Virginia’s high ranking include:

  • no early voting
  • need excuse to vote absentee
  • must show photo ID to vote in person

The only state to rank higher than Virginia was Mississippi.

The study pointed to Oregon as the easiest state to cast your vote.
