RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC/WFXR) — The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Authority has announced that, starting Monday, all of their 395 stores will adjust their opening hours to noon until further notice.

According to a statement from Virginia ABC on Thursday, Jan. 20, the change in hours is a result of staffing issues in stores across the Commonwealth.

“Like other retailers affected by pandemic-related staffing shortages, we are modifying our store hours to reduce the need to close stores because of employee quarantines,” said CEO Travis Hill. “Opening at noon meets the needs of the majority of our customers, most of whom prefer to shop in the afternoon.”

All stores’ closing hours will remain the same. In addition, all store employees are still required to wear face masks, with customers encouraged to do the same.
