VINTON, Va. (WFXR) — In less than two weeks, police will be enforcing a new speed limit along Gus Nicks Blvd.

Starting on Oct. 2, the Vinton Police Department (VPD) says the speed limit on Gus Nicks Blvd will be dropping to 25 mph.

The existing 25 mph speed limit will be extended from Gathright Bridge on Washington Avenue to Town limits on Gus Nicks Blvd. Police said the speed limit is being introduced to the area because of increased activity from Billy Bryd Apartments, Gish Mill, Glade Creek Greenway, Vinyard Park, and new businesses that are expanding in the community.

According to VPD, the speed limit will be fully enforced and help increase pedestrian and vehicle safety, and better access to surrounding amenities.

There are already signs in the area warning commuters of the speed limit and Reduce Speed Ahead signs will be posted.
