UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: VDOT reports that the site of the vehicle fire has been cleared and traffic along I-81 in Wythe County has returned to a regular pattern.
WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A vehicle fire Monday morning at 10:37 a.m. has closed two southbound lanes on Interstate 81 in Wythe County.
Smoke was visible at mile marker 78.1 where crews put out the fire and continue to work to clear the scene. The south center lane, the right lane, and the right shoulder are closed. Emergency cones and signs directing traffic have been installed notifying drivers of the lane closures.
