UPDATE: Three arrested after shots fired, child grazed by bullet

UPDATE 1/5/18  10:57PM — Lynchburg Police have made a third arrest in a shooting incident. Here is the information from a press release from the Lynchburg Police Department: “As a result of the on-going investigation into this case, On January 5, 2019, Jamik Tyree Walker 21 year-old resident of Lynchburg was arrested and charged with Assault by Mob (Misdemeanor), and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (2 counts) This investigation continues.This case is active and ongoing. More arrests are expected.”

UPDATE 1/4/18  7:55PM — Lynchburg Police said two people have been arrested in connection to a fight that happened before a shooting Thursday.

A statement from LPD said 22-year-old Tai’he Jeter has been charged with assault by mob and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A 17-year-old was also charged with assault by mob.

Investigators said shots were fired in the area; a five-year-old child was grazed by a bullet.

That child was treated at the scene.

Police are still investigating – anyone with information on the fight or shots fired is asked to call 434-455-6102.


A five-year-old child in Lynchburg was injured after shots were fired.

It happened at the Hillcrest apartments in the 200-block of Hillside court shortly before 6 P.M. Thursday.

When officers arrived on the scene they found that one of the apartments was struck multiple times. 

Inside the apartment, the 5-year-old was grazed by one of the bullets. 

The child was treated on scene for a superficial injury. 

Police say the suspects fled in a vehicle before officers got on scene. 

They believe this is an isolated incident and is related to a fight that happened at Birchwood Apartments earlier that day. 

Lynchburg Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Detective Dubie at (434) 455-6102.
