Friends are remembering the teenager who was killed in a car crash Friday night in Roanoke.

According to police, 16-year-old Corrina Brown died at the hospital after the minivan she was traveling in was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Orange Avenue NE and Plantation Road NE.

According to officials with Roanoke City Public Schools, Corrina was a student at Patrick Henry High School, where counseling services will be available on Monday.

The 16-year-old worked part-time at the Dairy Queen on Orange Avenue NE in Roanoke. Coworkers we spoke with said Corrina always had an upbeat attitude.

“She was funny, goofy, and we always argued, and playful, and she was a really good person,” said friend and coworker Bri’Onnah Thomasson

Thomasson said she saw Corrina shortly before the crash.

“I had just jokingly played with her around before she left, and we just laughed together,” Thomasson said. “But I didn’t think that would be the last time I’d see her. I would have told her ‘goodbye’ or something if I knew that she wouldn’t come back.”

“She was the first person to say ‘hi’ to me all the time,” said Destinie Tingler, who also worked with Corrina Brown.

Tingler said Corrina would always try to help in any way she could at work. Members of the tight-knit staff are now leaning on each other for support, she added.

“Everybody’s pretty upset about the whole situation, and we’re just trying to figure out the best way to get through it as a group and team,” Tingler said.

“She was a really funny, goofy, crazy girl that I wish everybody got to know because when you’re down, she was there for you,” Thomasson said. “And when you’re doing good, she was there for you.”

According to police, the investigation of the crash is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
