UPDATE: Roanoke man dies following Friday afternoon shooting in southeast Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — More than two days after Friday afternoon’s shooting in southeast Roanoke, police announced the death of a man injured during the shooting.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Indian Village Lane SE after a call came in about a person with a gunshot wound at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.

When officers arrived on scene, they reportedly found a man with a gunshot wound. The department says Roanoke Fire-EMS brought the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.

On Sunday, Sept. 13, police announced the man — identified as 22-year-old Dontae Taylor of Roanoke — died from his injuries.

Police say this shooting is now under investigation as a homicide. As of Sunday, the department says no arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation.
