MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday only one of the men involved in Monday night’s fight in Henry County will face charges.

The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call on Monday, April 6 at 10:16 p.m. that two men were actively in a fight at Northview Gardens Apartments at 755 Stultz Road in Martinsville.

When officers from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Martinsville Police Department arrived, they were able to make contact with the two men, 39-year-old Marvin Antonio Pritchett of 848 Katherine Street and 46-year-old Bernard Boswell of 755 Stultz Road.

During the investigation, authorities determined that ongoing arguments between the two men resulted in the fight. Pritchett reportedly drove to Boswell’s home and assaulted him in the parking lot. Pritchett sustained a cut on his neck from the fight.

As that altercation occurred, Pritchett assaulted a female, with whom he also has a child, according to the sheriff’s office.

Pritchett was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where authorities say he had surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, Boswell was reportedly transported SOVAH Health in Martinsville and later released.

After speaking with the Commonwealth’s Attorney, the sheriff’s office says no charges will be issued against Boswell since it was determined Boswell acted in self-defense when he injured Pritchett.

However, Pritchett was arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery and one count of misdemeanor domestic assault and batter. Authorities say Pritchett was released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.

The incident is still under investigation.
