UPDATE: We now know the name of the man who was killed in Danville on Tuesday.
Police found Tahir Mahmud behind the counter of the Joy Food Mart on Riverside Drive with a gunshot wound just before 10 am.
His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Today at approximately 9:59am the Danville Police Department responded to the Joy Food Mart at 507 Riverside Drive in reference to someone in medical distress. Responding officers discovered a male victim behind the counter with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound.
The victim was pronounced non-viable by a member of the Danville Life Saving Crew.
The victim is identified as 54- year- old Tahir Mahmud of Danville, who was operating the store at the time.
A Pittsylvania County K-9 Deputy with a bloodhound responded to the scene to assist the Danville Police Department with a K-9 track.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Police are investigating a homicide in Danville.
A man was found dead inside the Joy Food convenience store on Riverside Drive just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Danville Police Department confirmed that they called in a K-9 unit from Pittsylvania County to help with the investigation.
So far the name of the victim has not been released, and no arrests have been made.
