UPDATE: Tractor trailer wreck cleared, lanes reopened on U.S. Route 221 in Bedford County

UPDATE 6:15 a.m.: VDOT says the tractor trailer wreck on U.S. Route 221 in Bedford County has been cleared and all lanes have reopened.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor trailer crash from early Wednesday morning is affecting all lanes of traffic on U.S. Route 221 in Bedford County.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, all north and south lanes along Route 221 (Forest Road) are closed about a mile north of Bedford due to a wreck that took place at mile marker 131 near Centerville Road and Timber Ridge Road.

VDOT says the tractor trailer crash also downed some utility lines in the area.

VDOT says southbound traffic is being diverted at Route 671, onto Route 122, and back onto Route 221. Meanwhile, northbound traffic is being diverted at Route 122, onto Route 671, and back onto Route 221.
