UPDATE: Tractor-trailer crash backs up traffic for miles on I-81 North in Botetourt County

UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: According to VDOT, the accident on I-81 in Botetourt County has been cleared.

UPDATE 12:48 p.m.: According to VDOT, the southbound lanes have reopened at mile marker 162 on I-81, but the northbound left shoulder and left lane are still closed.

Current estimates from VDOT put the delays at four miles.

UPDATE 11:03 a.m.: VDOT says the tractor-trailer crash across the median of I-81 in Botetourt County has led to a two mile backup.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says Monday morning motorists can expect delays in Botetourt County due to a tractor-trailer crash on I-81.

According to VDOT, the left shoulder and left lane are closed on both the northbound and southbound sides of I-81 at mile marker 162 while crews clear up the crash site.
