UPDATE: 2:15 P.M.: All southbound lanes have been closed once again at mile marker 1 and traffic is backed up for a mile, according to VDOT.
UPDATE: 1:45 P.M.: According to VDOT, only the southbound right lane and right shoulder are still closed from the accident at mile marker 1 along US-220.
UPDATE 1:35 P.M.: VDOT reports that it has closed all southbound lanes at mile marker 1 along US-220 while workers clear the site of the tractor-trailer accident.
UPDATE 12:39 P.M.: The driver of the tractor-trailer that crashed on U.S. 220 in Henry County was transported via helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem in North Carolina.
According to Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, the driver suffered severe injuries.
The truck carried milk and crews are working to clear the scene.
HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A tractor-trailer accident on U.S. 220 in Henry County has shut down the south right lane, causing traffic delays.
The incident happened near Reservoir Road, also known as Route 689, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
