Town of Bedford officials have announced Steve Rush as the town’s new mayor.

The town council selected Rush as mayor and swore him in at their January 2 meeting at 7 p.m.

Rush has served as a councilman in Bedford County for 10 years.

“It’s an honor to be able to fulfill this position,” Rush told WFXR News.

Rush said he plans to continue enhancing the experience in the town as well as continue to develop economic activities.

Rush’s term expires on December 31, 2022.

Tim Black will serve as vice mayor. His term expires December 31, 2020.

The Town of Bedford operates with a council/manager form of government. With this type of government, the council who is elected by the public selects the mayor and vice-mayor.
