Three men were arrested in Botetourt County for illegal guns and dugs

Three men have been arrested after a traffic stop in Botetourt County. 

It happened on Interstate 81 on Sunday, February 26 at 3:05 p.m. 

Virginia State Police stopped a 2007 Mazda for going 75 mils per-hour in a 60 mph zone.  

During the traffic stop, the Trooper noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.  A search of the vehicle led to two illegal, concealed guns, cocaine, prescription pills, hash oil, more than a pound of marijuana and more than $4,700 in cash.  

The investigation showed that the med had just left Radford and were heading to Richmond. 

Kyle Webb, Trechon Hunter, and Spencer Townsend were all arrested and charged.  

They were taken to the Botetourt County Jail where Hunter and Townsend are being held without bond.  Webb was released on bind.

BOTETOURT, Va. – A Virginia State Police traffic stop Sunday (Feb. 26) on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County netted three arrests and illegal drugs, guns and cash.

At 3:05 p.m., a Virginia State Police Trooper stopped a northbound 2007 Mazda for excessive speed. The Trooper’s radar recorded the vehicle traveling at 75 mph in the posted 60 mph zone. During the course of the traffic stop, the Trooper noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded two illegal, concealed firearms, cocaine, prescription pills, hash oil, more than a pound of marijuana and more than $4,700 in cash. Further investigation revealed the three occupants had left Radford, Va., and were headed to Richmond, Va.

The driver, Kyle H. Webb, 22, of Springfield, Va., was charged with speeding and possession of marijuana.

Trechon D. Hunter, 24, of Richmond, Va., was charged with possession of a concealed firearm.

Spencer W. Townsend, 25, of Richmond, Va., was charged with possession of a gun with a Schedule I-II drug, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

The driver and passengers were transported to the Botetourt County Jail, where Hunter and Townsend are being held without bond. Webb was released on bond.
