UPDATE: More than 2,000 still without power around southwest, central Virginia following Zeta’s weather

UPDATE 12:39 p.m.: While crews have already restored power to hundreds around southwest and central Virginia on Friday, there are still more than 2,000 facing outages by early afternoon.

According to Danville officials, about 750 customers are still without power throughout the city and the county territory as of 11:55 a.m. on Friday, but service should be restored to all by early in the evening.

Meanwhile, the following streets in Danville are at least partially blocked due to fallen trees tangled up with power lines as of 11:30 a.m.:

  • Hanley Circle
  • Hopkins Street
  • Lorillard Drive
  • Miller Road
  • Norwood Drive
  • Old Farm Road at Oak Lane
  • West James Street

According to Appalachian Power, the following localities are reporting outages for at least 777 customers as of 12:28 p.m. on Friday:

  • Amherst County: 40 customers due to 7 outage cases
  • Bedford County: 157 customers due to 6 outage cases
  • Botetourt County: 52 outages due to 3 outage cases
  • Carroll County: 16 customers due to 2 outage cases
  • Franklin County: 146 customers due to 8 outage cases
  • Floyd County: 6 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Giles County: 20 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Grayson County: 14 customers due to 4 outage cases
  • Henry County: 72 customers due to 13 outage cases
  • Montgomery County: 93 customers due to 7 outage cases
  • Nelson County: 43 customers due to 1 outage case
  • Patrick County: 26 customers due to 10 outage cases
  • Pittsylvania County: Less than 5 customers due to 1 outage case
  • Pulaski County: 5 customers due to 1 outage case
  • Roanoke City: 20 customers due to 4 outage cases
  • Roanoke County: 67 customers due to 8 outage cases

In addition, Dominion Energy says 778 of its customers from the following localities are also without power as of 12:30 p.m. on Friday:

  • Botetourt County: 146 customers out due to 1 project
  • Charlotte County: 3 customers out due to 3 projects
  • Halifax County: 560 customers out due to 25 projects
  • Pittsylvania County: 69 customers out due to 2 projects

(WFXR) — More than 11,000 southwest and central Virginians are still impacted by power outages Friday morning after remnants of Hurricane Zeta moved through the area on Thursday.

According to Appalachian Power, as of 6:13 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, the following localities are reporting outages for more than 1,700 customers:

  • Amherst County: 57 customers due to 5 outage cases
  • Bedford County: 26 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Botetourt County: 35 outages due to 3 outage cases
  • Campbell County: 128 customers due to 2 outage cases
  • Carroll County: 286 customers due to 4 outage cases
  • Franklin County: 9 customers due to 4 outage cases
  • Giles County: 23 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Grayson County: 114 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Henry County: 132 customers due to 27 outage cases
  • Montgomery County: 37 customers due to 5 outage cases
  • Patrick County: 773 customers due to 12 outage cases
  • Pittsylvania County: Less than 5 customers due to 1 outage case
  • Pulaski County: 9 customers due to 2 outage cases
  • Roanoke City: 18 customers due to 3 outage cases
  • Roanoke County: 103 customers due to 9 outage cases
  • Wythe County: Less than 5 customers due to 1 outage case

Meanwhile, Danville Utilities says 8,943 customers are affected by 72 outages around the Danville area as of 6:12 a.m. on Friday.

In addition, Dominion Energy says more than 900 of its customers from the following localities are also without power as of 6:15 a.m. on Friday:

  • Alleghany County: 1 customer out due to 1 project
  • Appomattox County: 101 customers out due to 1 project
  • Charlotte County: 11 customers out due to 6 projects
  • Halifax County: 739 customers out due to 34 projects
  • Pittsylvania County: 70 customers out due to 2 projects
