The growing cost of keeping police at pipeline protests

Officers have been monitoring pipeline protests around the clock – and the price tag is growing for local law enforcement agencies.

Roanoke County Police have estimated the costs connected with protests at $49,613.

That estimate includes regular time, overtime, equipment and supplies for officers.

The estimate was calculated for April 12-28.
