TAP, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College partnership awarded $1.3M job training grant

COVINGTON, Va. (WFXR) – Total Action for Progress (TAP), in partnership with Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) has been awarded a grant from the Department of Labor to launch Appalachian CareerForge.

The grant, valued at $1,337,918 will be used to fund programming to support unemployed workers in job-seeking training at DSLCC in three high-demand career areas in the region.

  • Certified Nurse Aide
  • Phlebotomy
  • Truck Driving (Commercial Driver’s License – Class A)

Appalachian CareerForge is funded through the Department of Labor’s Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) initiative which will benefit workers in the following localities:

  • Alleghany County
  • Bath County
  • Craig County
  • Greenbrier County
  • Rockbridge County
  • City of Buena Vista
  • City of Covington
  • City of Lexington
