Students will return to Cave Spring High School in the fall

Local News

Construction at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke County has been delayed due to a high construction bid.

There was only one bid submitted for the renovation project and it was more than 17 million dollars over budget.

According to information posted on the Roanoke County Public School’s website, school officials are now trying to make sure that the school will be ready for students in the fall.

After the end of the current school year, many areas were cleared out and the water and air-conditioner systems were turned off in preparation for construction.  Those systems will be turned back on, and will be checked before students return. The roof of the school will also be checked for leaks and fixed, and the building will be cleaned.

School officials say they are hopeful that they will be able to start construction later in the school year, but they do not have a timeline as to when the project could move forward.

Roanoke County has a website set up to keep the community updated about this project.  To visit that website, please click here
