DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Danville woman, whose body was discovered inside her home Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, the Danville Police Department says officers responded to 10 Lands End shortly following a 911 call from a person requesting a wellbeing check for the resident at that address.

When police arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive woman — identified as 30-year-old Brittany Nicole Poole — inside the home before she was “pronounced non-viable” by the Danville Life Saving Crew, according to officials.

Based on evidence at the scene, the authorities say they immediately launched a homicide investigation.

The department tells WFXR News that Poole’s body will be transported to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke to perform an autopsy and determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, police personnel have been processing the crime scene and canvassing the neighborhood throughout the day.
