PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating after a Thursday night crash in Pittsylvania County led to the death of a driver.

According to police, the single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 22 on Route 726/Ringold Depot Road at the intersection with Route 968/Sandy Creek Church Road.

Authorities say a 2010 Kia Sedona was traveling west on Route 726 when it ran off the right side of the road, went down an embankment, and struck a tree.

The driver — identified by officials as 46-year-old Andrew L. Henderson of Ringgold — was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Virginia State Police say Henderson was transported to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he later died from his injuries.

As of Monday, July 26, this fatal crash is still under investigation.
