VSP: Charlotte County driver dies after crashing into a tree Friday morning

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — According to officials, a man is dead after crashing a pickup truck in Charlotte County early Friday morning.

Virginia State Police say that troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Kings Highway at the Route 15 North exit ramp at approximately 12:39 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.

According to police, a 2011 Nissan Frontier was heading west on Kings Highway and tried to take the Route 15 northbound exit. However, the vehicle missed the exit ramp, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

The driver — identified by authorities as 36-year-old Jarrett L. Tharpe of Drakes Branch — was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash.

This fatal crash investigation is reportedly still ongoing.
