PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police report a fatal crash on Franklin Turnpike, at its intersection with Jeanette Drive in Pittsylvania County on March 20th.
At 11:15 a.m. a 2021 GMC allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn onto Franklin Turnpike and was struck by 2011 Ford Fusion driven by 76-year-old Lewis Lee Myers of Chatham.
Myers was transported to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he later died.
The driver of the GMC did not sustain any injuries.
Virginia State Police says the investigation is still ongoing and that charges are pending. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. WFXR News will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
