CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) has reported that the vehicle stolen in a recent carjacking incident involving a Lyft driver has been found.
On Sunday, April 9, officers responded to a report of a carjacking around 3:11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Blue Ridge Avenue in Crozet. When they arrived, they found that a Lyft driver had picked up two individuals in the 600 block of Elizabeth Avenue in Charlottesville and transported them to Crozet.
Once arriving, the passengers pulled a gun and told the driver to exit the car, fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle and heading towards Jarman Gap.
The driver was not injured, and thanks to a tip, the white 2015 Toyota Corolla was recovered in Waynesboro. ACPD is still searching for the suspects who have been described as two male teenagers — one white, one black. Both were said to be wearing all-black clothing.
Anyone with information about this incident or the suspects involved is asked to call ACPD at 434-296-5807 or Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
