DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A teenager is facing a murder charge in connection with a shooting at a Danville apartment complex that led to the death of another teenager Wednesday night.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 to Purdum Woods Apartments at 1575 Richmond Boulevard for a report that someone had been shot.

When police arrived, they found a male laying on the sidewalk near the K building with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. The victim — identified by the department as 19-year-old Jontavious Logan of Danville — was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police announced on Thursday, May 20 they charged 19-year-old Majusty Miles of Danville, with second-degree murder in connection with Logan’s death. Authorities arrested Miles in Danville without incident and he was held without bond.

According to the department, neither Logan nor Miles lived in Purdum Woods Apartments.

However, at this point in the investigation, evidence indicates the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between Logan and Miles, officials say.
