DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A Danville man is currently behind bars after being arrested in connection with a fire that took place Sunday morning and left five people displaced.

The Danville Police Department says 59-year-old Joe Louis Logan is being charged with arson — along with domestic assault and battery — relating to the fire that took place at 105 Sedgefield Court on Sunday, April 18.

Fire officials say the fire in the original apartment caused smoke and water damage another apartment, leaving the second apartment uninhabitable.

According to the Danville Fire Department, the three adults and two children who were displaced received assistance from the American Red Cross with regard to temporary housing.

Police say Logan is in custody at Danville City Jail.
