DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department arrested a man connected with a hit-and-run case that took the life of a 26-year-old man earlier this month.
Police say 19-year-old Marco Dunzell Banks Jr. of Danville, was charged on Wednesday, April 20 with felony hit-and-run in connection with an incident on April 2.
According to the department, Banks reportedly hit a motorcyclist — identified as Tyler Brent Herndon of Danville — on Franklin Turnpike at Orphanage Road and then drove off on April 2. Herndon later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
Police say they located and arrested Banks for an outstanding warrant for filing a fake police report as well, which was not related to the deadly crash.
However, authorities expect additional misdemeanor traffic charges will be made in connection with the hit-and-run.
Banks is currently being held without bond in the Danville City Jail.
Police say this investigation remains ongoing. If you have any information about the crash, saw Banks in the black 2015 Buick Verano involved in the crash, spoke with Banks, or have video of the incident, you are asked to call the Danville Police Department at 434-799-6510 or Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000.
