BASSETT, Va. (WFXR) — Bassett High School students have been working on putting on a one-act play to submit in a competition in hopes of receiving state-level accolades.

The annual competition of one-act plays features plays that are about 30 minutes. Due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19, this year is a little different as students will be participating virtually.
Schools are asked to record and submit their play to be judged by April 10. Winners at the district level will move on to regional levels, followed by state.
Bassett High School students will be performing “Gossip” by Brian Hampton, where a group of high school students befriends a charming yet sinister new student named Gossip.
She immediately makes herself right at home as she secretly manipulates and twists the truth to get what she wants, but as her new friends begin to figure the whole thing out, they turn on her as ruthlessly as she went after them, leading to a surprisingly twisted ending.
