Space heater sparks Tuesday structure fire in Danville

Southside Virginia News

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A structure fire flared up in Danville Tuesday morning due to a combination of a space heater and combustible materials.

The Danville Fire Department says crews responded to reports of a structure fire at 215 Greenwich Circle shortly after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

When units arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames showing from the second floor of the building.

Personnel attacked the fire and brought it under control within 30 minutes, but the department says 15 fire personnel remained at the scene for approximately two hours.

According to fire officials, the Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire and determined it was caused by combustible materials that were too close to a space heater.
