DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — First responders and public safety officials around Danville and Pittsylvania County are sharing their support for the family of Tommy Pruett, a man who spent his career serving the Southside community through the Danville Life Saving Crew.

According to emergency officials, Pruett was the executive director of the Danville Regional Training Center and the Danville Life Saving Crew.

However, in the words of the Danville Life Saving and First Aid Crew, Inc., Pruett was not just a director, but “EMS provider, EMS instructor, mentor, colleague, associate, and friend.”

Pittsylvania County emergency response agencies also shared their condolences with Pruett’s family and coworkers.

“Tommy had a very positive influence on many EMS providers in south side Virginia and helped many individuals become successful patient care providers,” Pittsylvania County Public Safety wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, Jan. 12. “His influence was far reaching and he will be greatly missed by many.”

Blairs Volunteer Fire and Rescue shared their prayers with Pruett’s family in a very big way: on their department sign.
